Ulrika Shragge
Greetings, friends!
My name is Ulrika Shragge, and I am happily serving as the CALM Studies Coordinator. I graduated in May 2023 and studied Philosophy and History. I was introduced to the CALM student group when I took The Art and Science of Human Flourishing with Mark Dennis and Blake Hestir.
I immediately got involved and felt at home in the special space CALM has created. CALM has helped me deepen my practice and has supported me through major life transformations.
My first introduction to meditation was when my kindergarten art teacher, Earl Speas, had us take five mindful breaths. In middle school, my drama teacher, Heidi Abbott, introduced me to body scans
I began doing daily body scans in high school to help with my insomnia. Now, I do a daily breathe awareness / counting practice, though I am exploring new techniques.
I hope to soon become a certified facilitator. My goal is to eventually volunteer with facilitating meditation in a prison setting.
